11th Airborne Division White Back Patch WWII Vintage Philippines Pacific

Description: The Patch: This Auction is for 1 WWII Vintage 11th Airborne Division patch with a white back. This patch is in good condition. It has a white backing. This patch does not glow under the UV light and is guaranteed to be authentic. The History: The 11th Airborne Division was activated on February 25th, 1943. It participated in the 1944 Louisiana Maneuvers and was sent overseas in April of 1944. Their first combat came on November 18, 1944 when they invaded Leyte by boat. They landed south of Tacloban and pushed across the main Japanese Supply line. On December 6, 1944 the 11th defeated an attack on the San Pablo air strip by Japanese paratroopers. They made a second amphibiuos landing on the Island of Luzon on January 31, 1945 and drove north towards Manila. While on their drive towards Manila, elements of the division made a combined air and amphibious assault that liberated the prison camp at Los Banos. They continued fighting until May 1 when all Japanses resistance in Southern Luzon was defeated. They made one final combat jump in Northern Luzon south of Apari. On August 30, 1945, the 11th was the first American Unit to land on the Japanese mainland. Please read my auction requirements. I have changed them based upon feedback and ratings received.
