In the original French. This is a new, revised, and corrected edition. A history of English revolutions since the establishment of the monarchy. The most prominent English revolution in history is also known as the English Civil War, a period between 1642 and 1660 with supports of the Parliament and Crown facing each other. The largest consequence of this war was the trial and execution of Charles I and the rise of Oliver Cromwell. Written by Pierre-Joseph of Orleans. Orleans was a French Jusuit priest and historian. He wrote a number of books on devotion, some of his works include 'Histoire des deux conquerants Tartares qui ont subjugué la Chine', 'Histoire de M. Constance, premier ministre du roi de Siam, et de la derniere revolution de cet Etat', and 'Pratiques chretiennes pour les actions ordinaires de la vie'. With a frontispiece. With a six page advert to Volume I, and a six page advert to Volume III. CONDITION In a full calf binding. Externally, with some loss of leather to the head of the front joint. Light rubbing to the joints, with a small crack to the head of the front joint. Small amount of loss to the head of the spine. Some light surface cracks to the spine. Marking to the boards, a little heavier to the front board. Mark to the bottom edge. Hinges are starting but firm. Rear endpaper and pastedown with some dampstaining, resulting in some loss of the marbled paper. Some loss to the front endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with marks, some spots, and light tidemarking. Ribbon marker intact.
