The work also show illustrations of various kitchen utensils, intended for use by someone trying to build and furnish a kitchen if they have little experience.Also involving advice and tips on how to carve different types of meat, and advice on which particular foods to give to sick people.Written by Frederick Bishop, who was chef to St. James' Palace, Early Grey, Baron Rothschild, Earl Norbury, and many more prominent and successful families in England.The first edition of this work, with two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear dated 1856. Illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, one folding plate, and numerous in-text engravings throughout.Collated and complete. CONDITION In the publisher's original cloth with refreshed endpapers. Externally, sound, with fading to the spine and extremities, and shelf wear to the boards. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Cloth is split slightly at the head and tail of the spine. Internally, binding is just slightly tender. A couple spots and a few handling marks to the pages, which are otherwise bright and clean. Overall Condition: Good GLOSSARY OF TERMS Overall Condition (Dustwrapper condition rating is shown after that for the book itself, where a dustwrapper is present) Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear Very Good Indeed - Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy Very Good - Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy Good - Meaning not very good. Some more serious faults as will be described in the condition report under 'condition' Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair Fair - As with good only above but with other faults leaving a compromised copy even after repair Poor - Really bad and possibly seriously incomplete.
