She made extensive tours in Europe, visited Palestine and Turkey in 1868, and traveled round the world in 1883 - 1884. Clement writes "The history of no city exceeds that of Constantinople in dramatic interest, and no other can boast of so commanding a position, or one so well suited to the splendid capital of a proud and powerful empire."
