WARD 1929 Purchased from Heritage auctions IRI collection this large Edmund Franklin Ward oil on canvas painting depicts "The St. Valentines Day Massacre". The St Valantines Day Massacre happened in Chicago on Valentines Day February 14, 1929. The painting itself 28" x 38" when measures from back of stretched canvas and is 32 1/2" x 43" with frame. Wood black lacquer frame is 2" with a 3/4" wide dark grey filet. Edmund F. Ward (1892-1990) is a well listed artist whose work I think is still below the true value. Below is the condition report from Heritage Auctions which are minor and cannot really be seen unless you black light it and know where to look. *Condition Report Wax-lined canvas; surface dirt and minor craquelure; under UV light, scattered spots of in paint in upper left background and along the edges, most notably thin lines along right edge. Framed to an overall size of 43 x 32.5 in.
