Description: 1966 On Set color slides from The Way West movie Ft Rock Oregon Christmas Valley Lake County. With Kirk Douglas Robert Mitchum Richard Widmark Lola Albright Michael McGreevey Sally Field Director Andrew McLaglen Howard Hecht Production company and Howard Hecht, extras and stunt men. I decided to just put this up as a group rather than individually along with a 1906 post card of Fort Rock that shows the side where these movie scenes were filmed. You can google the movie to read up on it. I'm pretty sure I have another dozen from this day of filming. but until I find those where are these. If there is any interest. The movie flopped despite the star power and it led to They were using the landmark in oregon as a replacement for Independence Rock in Wyoming. They don't look anything alike LOL Over 70 vehicles came in to this area to film the summer of 66, My family were in the area and visitors were allowed to watch and mingle. The tented scene being filmed had Kirk Douglas and Lola Albright and the first take was stopped as 3 year old me started screaming (so I was told) so take 2 started and almost complete and I fussed again. They yelled cut and Douglas came storming out of the tent and yelled, I'll come back as soon as you shut up that G%$^&@damn kid up. Lola Albright walked by my mom and told her, don't worry about it hun, he's just worked up over the heat today. Then she took the photo with her in her chair next to Hechts and Douglas. One of my older brothers captured a lizard and walked over to Robert Mitchum and gave it to him. He bent down and thanked him and he came running back all happy and Mitchum released it back to the desert. In one of the photos with the Warm Spring Indian extras, Mitchum is by the equipment having a smoke. To his left is Richard Widmark with his shirt off. This was the scene where Michael McGreevey was put up on an X by the Indians. This was not only Sally Field first real film role, but Sam Elliot very first anything as a townsmen in Missouri. Another photo has a horseman and Mitchums stunt double. My mom noted when she saw Douglas on a horse he bounced around like a sack of potatoes. There you have it, somewhere I think there are negatives as well and maybe the total number of shots taken that day. I do know we have an 8mm film clip as well. The last photo I added is a promo shot with some of them standing at the area where these slides were taken. same clothes etc The card alone is maybe worth $25 or 30. No X's on original of course I do combine shipping I have at times been asked, why so much for shipping. I actually do not, and it is reasonable for ground advantage packages. I ship very well as one can see by my feedback. If you want your card tossed in an envelope without tracking then sure, it can be less. Anything that cannot be bent or twisted USPS will charge you a package rate, and it is more in person retail at the post office. If the envelope is rigid & non bendable it gets billed a package rate. I will try to send ASAP but now have it set at 3 business days. I am too old to be rushing every day. But if you need it sooner I will work with you. I want to do what is right for the customer, not Ebay. I still treat ebay as a large yard sale.
