Description: 1986 Topps #161 Jerry Rice rookie card autograph authenticated and graded Gem Mint 10 for the autograph only by PSA. Jerry would play collegiately at Mississippi Valley State from 1981-1984. He would compile 301 catches for 4,693 yards and 50 touchdowns. He would win the 1984 Blue-Gray Classic game MVP award with 4 catches for 101 yards and a touchdown. He would finish ninth in the Heisman voting in 1984. He would be selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the 16th overall pick in the 1985 NFL Draft. He was the 1st overall pick in the USFL Draft by the Birmingham Stallions. He would never play in the USFL, due to the league folding after the 1986 season. Rice would compete with Dwight Clark and Freddie Solomon for a roster spot in training camp in 1985. Rice would make the team and become one of Joe Montana’s favorite targets. This would lead to two Super Bowl wins between 1985 and 1989. Steve Young would take over the quarterback duties with the departure of Montana in 1990. Rice would be one of Young’s best targets and would find success winning the Super Bowl in 1994. Rice would spend from 1985-2000 with the 49ers. In 2001, he would sign with the Raiders vie free agency and spend 2001-2003 with them, then split 2004 between them and the Seattle Seahawks. He would sign with the Denver Broncos for 2005 but retired prior to the 2005 season. In 2006, the 49ers would ask Rice to sign a one-day contract so he could retire as a 49er. He would sign the $1,985,806.49 contract, which stands for the year he was drafted (1985), his jersey number (80), the year he retired (2006) and the 49ers. This figured was purely ceremonial. He compiled 1,549 receptions for 22,895 yards and 197 touchdowns in the regular season to go with 151 receptions, 2,245 yards and 22 touchdowns in the post season for his career. He would be a 3-time Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl XXIII MVP, 2-time NFL Offensive Player of the Year, 11-time All-Pro (10 first team selections), 13-time Pro Bowler (11 straight from 1986-1996). He would set multiple receiving records during his 20-year career in the NFL. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006. He was also inducted into the Black College Football Hall of Fame in 2010, the inaugural class. We offer combined shipping so please contact us or wait for an invoice if you win multiple auctions.
