Featuring the artistic expertise of United States Chief Engraver Joseph Menna and Royal Mint Chief Engraver Gordon Summer, the 2024 Liberty & Britannia Silver Medal signifies the longstanding relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom. Struck at the prestigious Philadelphia Mint, this exquisite silver medal was crafted from 1oz of .999 fine silver and has a diameter of 40.60 mm. Only 32,818 of these silver medals were struck, and each medal features a stunning proof finish, with frosted details rising above the mirror-like fields. The obverse, resulting from the talents of Menna and Summers, depicts the stoic portraits of Lady Liberty and Britannia. The design features complementary and balancing elements similar to a playing card so that both allegorical figures can be fully appreciated. Liberty, adorned with stars in her loose flowing hair, carries a torch, symbolizing the American spirit of freedom. Britannia, wearing a Corinthian helmet, wields a trident, embodying the unity and historical strength of Great Britain. The reverse, designed by Menna, showcases a vibrant sun rising over the Atlantic Ocean, framed by two shores, bridging the gap between the United States and Great Britain.
