Description: This high quality womens hat is styled in an iconic look of the 60s, familiar as a look sported by Jackie O, Marlo Thomas in That Girl, and Barbara Streisand. (Elements of cloche with elements of turban/beret styles). Size is small, between a 6 1/2 and a 6 3/4 (hatband = 20 5/8"). It's made of dark red imported fur with a jaunty rolled brim and wide gorsgrain ribbon trim and a sophisticated wide bow at the back.Its look is pure 60s. Mystere is the furrier (logo imprinted inside crown of hat, with words "Imported Fur.") Betmar is the hat manufacturer, appearing on the label stitched to the hat band, inside. (Betmar's history goes back to 1933 when wearing a hat was part of everyday dressing. "Betmar" was an amalgamation of the first and last name of the hat designer: Betty Marks.) Purchased by my mother at Kaufman's in Philadelphia in the early 1960s and has had only two owner/wearers: she and I. It's in very good condition, having been stored in plastic protective wrap in a hat box. No fading; no bare spots. Wide ribbon trim is unblemished, crisp, and firmly in place.
