This is a 1988 team issued jersey. It might have even been game worn once but stripped, reused, and customized which was common back then. Or it could have also been a blank 1988 that was left over and never used and customized. Based on my research, my best guess is that this was a jersey customized and gifted to Tom Sutherland who was a Colorado State University professor. He was working at American University in Beirut and held hostage for six-years starting in 1985. He was eventually released and returned home to Colorado in 1991...hence the #91 on the back.
