Antique Georgian Inscribed c1807 Gold, Hair and Pearl Mourning Ring, Size P 1/2

Description: An incredibly unique 216 year old antique Georgian mourning ring with braided hair covered by a pane of glass and surrounded by 14 pearls. This is an extremely rare and beautiful ring which would make a fine collector's piece. Condition: Beautiful condition for a ring that is 216 years old but has clear signs of wear. Each side of the ring has 3 prongs attaching the band to the head of the ring- these show signs of being soldered/re-attached in the past. 2 of the prongs on the right hand side have come away from the ring- this does not affect the wear of the ring currently but they will eventually need reattaching Please see final above which clearly show the two prongs that have come away. The pane of glass covering the braided hair has surface wear giving it a slight frosted appearance.Preservation: Due to the hair encased within the mourning ring, I would recommend a buyer to not fully submerge the ring underwater for cleaning or to expose it to too much water e.g hand washing, rain ect... to ensure the hair is kept in good, dry condition and that mould does not accumulate under the glass. A dry cloth for polishing and cleaning will suffice.
