Originating from Tibet during the 17th-18th century, this statue of Maya Devi is depicted standing in a tribhanga pose on a lotus pedestal. She holds a Sal tree branch in her right hand while her left hand is positioned in Vyakbyana mudra. Legend says “Maya Devi was delighted by the park and gave birth to Buddha standing while holding onto a sal branch”. Decorated with various ornaments, this sculpture illustrates the nativity of Gautama Siddhartha in Lumbinivana, reminiscent of stone panels found in Amaravati and Nagarjunakonda.
