Description: Gorgeous antique Victorian gigot sleeve dress- bodice and skirt. Pretty velvet trim on the skirt. Silk faille fabric in a luscious mulberry shade. Offered as found- the bodice was altered at some point. It was a clumsy attempt to make the bodice bigger by adding a piece of fabric and changing the neckline. I removed the alteration but did not do any further work. Buttons are missing although there are enough buttons on the cuffs to use at the front placket. Some discoloration on one sleeve and missing buttons at both cuffs. Band collar was cut and partially remains. Stitches and creases from the removed alteration remain. Mend on one side of the chest. Lining inside the bodice is shredded at shoulders. Boning is intact. Skirt is in good condition, waist was probably altered to make it bigger. It's very heavy, there's a stiff interfacing and its lined in black polished cotton. A piece of fabric and a length of the velvet trim are included. They were sewn on the bodice and that's what I removed. I'd use the fabric to recreate the collar of the bodice if I were to restore it. Overall sturdy. Perfect for study or repair. Flat measurements- Bodice- Chest 16" Waist 12" Length 16" measurements are approximate as the buttons are missing. Mannequin is 33" chest 24" waist to give you an idea of size. Skirt- Waist 13.5" Length 42" Extra fabric piece is approx 12"x10" Extra trim is 23" long Offered as found.
