The spanner is marked with the Phillips lion logo and the company's “Renowned the World Over “ slogan. Length: 142mm (5.6 inches). Very good used condition (still retaining the original gunmetal finish).Phillips Cycles Ltd. was a British bicycle manufacturer based in Smethwick near Birmingham, England. Its history began early in the 20th century and ended in the 1980s by which time it had become part of Raleigh Industries. New Hudson' Bicycle/Auto-cycle/Motorcycle Spanner - A scarce, genuine vintage toolkit spanner manufactured by New Hudson for use with either their range of bicycles/auto-cycles or motorcycles.Jaw sizes: 13.75mm (approx. 0.55 inches) / 16.35mm (approx. 0.65 inches). Square aperture: 10mm (approx. 0.4 inch). Length: 150mm (approx. 5.9 inches). Good used condition.The New Hudson Cycle Co. was originally formed in 1890 by George Patterson, and manufactured 'safety' bicycles in Birmingham. They produced their first motorcycle in 1903. The family sold the factory to H.J. Bructon after WW1, and in 1920 the company was reformed as New Hudson Ltd. The company was taken over by BSA cycles in the late 1920s and by 1933 had ceased all production of motorcycles. In 1940 the New Hudson autocycle was introduced but was later rebadged as a BSA. Premier Cycle Co Multi-Spanner. 1902-14 - A rare, genuine antique toolkit combination spanner manufactured in England by The Premier Cycle Co Ltd., for use with their range of bicycles. Likely to date from between 1902 and 1914.The spanner incorporates 3 different size jaws, the smallest being 9.75mm (0.38 inches) and the largest 15.5mm (0.6 inches) across, and a flat-bladed screwdriver. The spanner is marked with the “Premier Cycles” name. Length: 147.5mm (5.8 inches). Fair/good used condition (some minor wear and tear commensurate with age - naturally aged patina).In 1891 The Premier Cycle Co Ltd was formed to take over Hillman, Herbert & Cooper (a cycle manufacturer formed in 1875) as a going concern, however the Premier Cycle Co was wound up later that year. Sometime later The New Premier Cycle Co was formed to acquire the business of The Premier Cycle Co. In 1902 this company renamed itself as The Premier Cycle Co Ltd. In 1914 it changed its name to Coventry Premier Ltd, and continued as such until sold to Singer in 1920.
