Description: This auction is for a rare Raiders of the Lost Ark leather jacket made by the original manufacturers of the jackets in the first film – Berman and Nathans. It is made from a thick but supple lambskin that looks and feels exactly like the texture and weight from the first film. Consult the Indygear website for the specific history of the jackets from the film, but the short version is Noel Howard and Peter Botwright, who worked for Berman and Nathans and Leather Concessionaires respectively, made ten jackets for Raiders. I suspect this jacket was made fairly long ago due to the quality of the lambskin which matches the Raiders film extremely closely. I hate to part with it but it is too small for me. It is really hard to find a thick but supple lambskin so close to those used in Raiders, and this jacket was made by the gentlemen who designed and made the originals. Wested currently makes great coats, but this lambskin is very unique and beautifully textured like the originals. Its dark brown color closely matches the opening Raiders idol scene in my opinion. Cotton lining in body, silk or satin lining in the sleeves (I apologize I don’t know the difference). There is no size label. I think the jacket is a snug 44 Regular or possibly a Large, but please go by the following measurements: Shoulder to shoulder- 20.5 inches, shoulder to end of sleeve- 24.5 inches, back (base of collar to bottom)- 25 inches, and chest (lying flat)- 44 inches circumference or 22 inches flat on each side measured directly under the sleeves. I am a 46L and this jacket is slightly too small for me. I have never worn the jacket other than trying it on. Found it on eBay over 20 years ago, shipped from England. It is in great condition- no tears, zipper is tip top. Exhibits just a few scuffs. The little details match the Raiders scenes well and its waistcoat cut/dimensions are extremely film accurate.
