Description: Here's a very fine high quality American chest of drawers in solid birdseye maple. It's a cabinet maker workshop made piece from ca. 1890. The many interesting features include full fluted corner columns ending in turned feet, raised panel sides, a most unusual top drawer with a protruding bowl shape flanked by fan carvings, 2 doors with 2 linen fold carved panels on each door, over 2 molded long drawers. The craftmanship of all of these features is excellent. The original finish is excellent and much more consistent than it appears in the pictures. The secondary wood of the hand dovetailed drawers is all cherry. There's a single adjustable shelf in the cabinet behind the doors. The dimensions are 48 inches tall x 22 inches deep x 46 inches wide. Whether you want to call this a high chest of drawers, a linen press, a gentleman's chest or a tall dresser, it is a very remarkable piece of furniture. I think it's a compelling enough stand alone piece that it could be used in almost any room in your house. I also see that it would work very well in an MCM decor or as a single outstanding focal piece in a minimalist design. The quality is simply the BEST !
