Description: Birth of a Legend is early Bob Marley and the Wailers. The compilation double album on the Calla label features 20 tracks with the ska sound of the Wailers in the early ‘60s. The songs were produced from 1963-1966 in Kingston. This is not the regga that captured the world’s attention in the 1970s, rather it is a precursor that delivers ska, rocksteady, soul sounds as the band and its leader develop their own sound. This is clear on a super early version of “One Love” and its rocksteady vibe. Be sure to check out the photos, which include song titles and some of the album’s history. The albums are VG+ with some slight scuffs and (nonfeelable) scratches. The cover is VG with normal wear - there is a worn spot on rear but doesn’t penetrate the cover.
