Description: Boston Marathon Banner - 100th Anniversary 30"x60" vinyl street banner. This Banner was hung on a light pole, on the course route, during Marathon weekend in1996, for the 100th Boston Marathon. It was created by the race sponsor (and Olympic Sponsor), John Hancock per Boston's Mayor Menino. This early Banner does not have grommets, but cross-cuts with strings to hang. Colors are bright as this has been stored out of direct light. Shown next to 100th Marathon Volunteer jacket for size comparison only. One side reads: "100 years of blood, sweat and cheers BOSTON MARATHON IN COOPERATION WITH THE CITY OF BOSTON THOMAS M. MENINO, MAYOR" There is also a logo of the Boston Athletic Association.
