Description: The Builders of Florence by J. Wood Brown. Published by E. P. Dutton and Company, New York, 1907. With seventy-four illustrations by Herbert Railton, including frontispiece with tissue-guard. Very good minus, first edition book, no dust jacket. Red cloth covered boards with gilt-stamped lettering and graphics on front panel and spine. Upper edges are gilt. Side and lower edges are age- and soil-stained. Spine is sunned, boards are soiled and smudged overall, more so along the extremities. Edges and corners at head and tail of board spine are chipped and fraying. Upper and lower board edges are scuffed and with several small rub-throughs. Fore-edge corner tips are rubbed through, more so on the lower corners and adjacent edges. Front paste-down has small bookseller label. Previous owner's name is written and stamped on FFEP, also written on title page. Inside gutters are cracked at half-title page and back inside gutter. Both end-papers are grubby and with faint foxing. Heavy transfer stains to the half-title page and the verso to the last Index page (which also contains the printer's information). Occasional smudges in the margins and minimal foxing on text pages. Please use close-up options for best inspection and in support of condition descriptions.
