Description: Crossing and Re-crossing the Connecticut River by Charles W. Whittlesey You are buying Crossing and Re-crossing the Connecticut River, A description of the river from its mouth to its source, with a history of its ferries and bridges. by Charles W. Whittlesey. Privately published by Whittlesey, copyright 1938. This is a first printing. The interior is in very good condition. The pages are tight and clean. There are no tears and or marks. Attached to the front left end paper is the bookplate of a previous owner. Near the top edge of the right end paper is the stamped name of another previous owner. The card cover is in fine condition. The dust jacket is in good condition. It shows wear, soiling and is wrinkled and discolored especially near the top and bottom of the front. It may not be pretty, but has protected the book for over 83 years and will continue to do so for decades to come. The book is 5 3/4” x 8 3/4” tall and 143 pages including a 1 page bibliography. There are 75 b & W photographs of brides and ferries. Several photos are of bridges that had recently been destroyed in 1936 great flood. I wonder how many of the bridges listed in the book were destroyed by hurricane of 1938. ***Always communicate through the eBay message system.*** Please if you need any additional information and photos, eBay message me immediately.
