Description: This beautiful needlework picture features a fabulous roaring carousel lion, complete with brass pole, saddle and trappings. It appears to be a replica of the famous carousel lions carved by the William Dentzel Carousel maker of Germantown, Pennsylvania in the early 1900s. The lion is meticulously stitched in the center of the picture; it is surrounded by a wide fabric border that appears to be printed with a small dot design in a cranberry red color. This was almost certainly a cross stitch kit, but I was unable to locate any information on the origin of the kit. I don't know the exact age, but estimate the piece is around 30+ years old, from the 1980s - 1990s, based on the style and color of the framing. It measures approximately 15 3/4 inches in height and is 15 3/4 inches wide - an almost perfect square. It was custom framed with a solid wood frame, lacquered with a cranberry red paint. There are no tears, stains, holes or other discoloration on the embroidered piece; the colors are still vivid. The frame is painted wood, also in good condition with no significant scratches or chips. The glass is in good condition with no chips or cracks. There are tears in the paper backing of the piece - see photo- does not effect appearance or stability of picture. The hanging bracket and wire are attached and sturdy. See photos for additional details. Every effort will be made to minimize the environmental impact of packing and shipping each item.*REDUCE* *REUSE* *RECYCLE*
