Description: This a beautiful Double Bit Axe made by Kelly in the early 1900’s. The “Black Chief” line was produced in extremely limited numbers and very few can be found today. The marking is visible and reads “Black Chief Made by: Kelly Axe & Tool Works”, which is also an uncommon stamp. This is a 3.5lb axe head mounted on a gorgeous hand painted 36” Hickory haft making the total weight around 5 pounds. This axe has been in a private collection for over 25 years. It’s been meticulously cared for and is in excellent condition. Sourcing & Restoration by AJW Axe Works located in Southeastern NC.
