Although Goya wasn’t born in Madrid, he came to live and work there at the Royal Tapestry workshop in 1775 and later became a court painter for King Carlos III.Artist Francisco Jose de Goya was born in 1746-1828. A Spanish romantic painter and printmaker, according to Wikipedia he was considered the fourth most important Spanish artist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries and throughout his long career was a commentator and chronicler of his era. He was quite successful in his lifetime becoming a painter to the Spanish Crown in 1786 with portraits of the Spanish Aristocracy and royalty. A wonderful piece of history is his painting " El Baile A Orillas Del Manzanares", also known as " The Dance of the Majos at the Banks of Manzanares." This vase is in excellent condition for its age, it has no cracks, chips, or frays. This artwork was printed and signed by the artist Francisco Goya circa 1777, I'm not positive so please double-check before purchasing this item. This transferware vase is extremely rare and refers to the famous painting described above.
