Description: For the Baseball Hobbyist. . . 1888 Goodwin & Company tobacco card (N162) [#1] - George Edward Andrews ~ Philadelphia Quakers (Phillies) C.C.C. REPRINT ~ Near-Mint "N162" (actually, simply "162") - the "N" (for 19th century) being added in later years - is the designation Jefferson Burdick in his American Card Catalog decades ago gave Goodwin & Company's colorful cards of 1888 inserted in Old Judge and Gypsy Queen cigarette packages. Original cards from this set are now more than 125 years old and an individual card of the most common player will cost hundreds of dollars in top condition. This card is reproduced in close-to-the- original 1-1/2" by 2-5/8" size (being 1-5/8" by 2-3/4") with colorized image of a prominent player of the day. The back carries a checklist of the set, starting with "Base Ball Players". In those days, the game was a two-word affair. Ed Andrews was National League stolen base king with 56 in 1886 and reached a career high of 57 the following season. He was a .300 or better hitter twice. Here is an opportunity to acquire a reprint of a very scarce card at a affordable price. This reprint was issued in the 1980s by the venerable Card Collectors Company of Franklin Square, New York - whose annual catalogs were perused with care by hobbyists for decades. "CARD COLLECTOR'S CO. REPRINT" is imprinted at the bottom of the card on the reverse side. Condition: Near-Mint Collecting Tip: This fine card will fit comfortably (with room to spare) in top-loading 9 pocket collector sheets. _______________________ Important: Shipping Information Our goal has always been to keep shipping costs low. Our primary objective is to sell cards and other things of interest to baseball hobbyists - not make money by overcharging on shipping. If you ever believe you are being overcharged on shipping, please email us and we will double-check the facts of the matter. Thank you! U.S. residents: We combine multiple items purchased so you pay only the shipping on the heaviest item - all other items ship free of charge. (An exception would be if an item must be sent via media/book rate.) All Other Countries: Email us first. Many listings indicate shipment to U.S. or U.S. & Canada only, but we actually ship worldwide. To receive your combined shipping, please wait for us to send you a combined invoice. The eBay checkout system usually displays an incorrect shipping charge. (It is normally too high.) Please do not pay for each item separately; if you pay separately, there is no shipping discount. We pack your order carefully - sandwiching cards between cardboard and utilizing boxes, bubble wrap, etc., as necessary - to ensure your items arrive in the condition you expect. Items are shipped the next business day. We ship 5 - usually 6 - days each week. Payment should be made within 7 days after invoice has been received. p1960 ~ The Baseball Hobbyist and Gram invite you to visit their eBay Store ~
