They started by offering the standard long plate 12AX7/B759 which, while an excellent tube, tends to be a bit noisy. The Genalex CV4004 was designed with the same high standards as the long plate 12AX7, but offers improved a significant reduction in noise and microphonics. The short plates and spiral filament help cut down on noise. The CV4004 designation is simply what that British called their short plate, low noise 12AX7 in the 1950’s. This is the same tube as a 12AX7, 12AX7A, ECC83 etc and will work in any amplifier that calls for them. This is the real deal, made in Russian and NOT China.
