It is designed perfectly for fresh-cut, long-stemmed flowers to lay lengthwise. It's an ideal collection basket for flowers, vegetables, or eggs from the chicken coop. This collecting basket stands roughly 10.5 inches tall. It is about 10 inches wide and about 16.5 inches long. It is about 6.5 inches deep. The basket is in very good condition, still strong and stable. There are a few broken pieces of wicker, mostly on the inside of the basket around the handles. Please see the photos. This basket came from an Ohio farmhouse woodshed, attached to the kitchen on the back of the house. At one time it was used daily. Based on this, I would date the basket from the early 1900s, possibly older. Of course, it would make a perfect Easter basket. Especially if woven with pastel-colored ribbons. And I might use it at Christmas, woven with red and green ribbons and filled with pine cones and small twinkling lights. Perhaps, simply use this basket inside your home. Maybe use it to hold complimentary items in your guest bathroom or bedroom; towels, washcloths, shampoo, soap, etc. Or use the basket to hold those things you want to keep handy by the door like your car keys and the dog leash. gloves and hats. And this basket would make a stunning place for a potted hanging plant. Simply place the potted plant in a low plastic container and then into the basket. Then slip the basket handle over a ceiling hook. Do you have things downstairs that belong upstairs or upstairs that belong downstairs? Put this basket on the stairs and use it as a handled transporter for things that need to go up or down. The uses are many and this basket will serve you well for a long time.
