Description: Awesome unique antique photo: CHARLIE THE ELEPHANT WITH BUM/CLOWN on the UNIVERSAL STUDIOS MOVIE LOT, in 1917 or 1919 (two different penciled notes on the reverse); Charlie carries the “bum” through the set of a western town with hotel, post office, general store, etc. On the right it says Campbell, presumably the photographer’s name; measures 7x5 inches. Charlie acted in three films (Man & Beast, Monkey Stuff, and An Elephant on His Hands) and lived at the Universal City Zoo; he died in 1923. Condition is EX with several tack holes in corners.
