Description: A very beautiful portrait. A crisp and clean note. There’s a vertical fold line through the centre ALL SHOWN IN SCAN. A PIECE OF CURRENCY HISTORY The Pengo as a currency has an extraordinary history. First issued in 1927 replacing the Korona as the currency. It started off well, but by the end of the Second World War it lost value dramatically and suffered one of the worst cases of hyper inflation ever recorded in the history of currency. And only lasted for 20 years. The hyper inflation was so out of control, that it took just 15 hours for prices to double. There was even a 400 octillion note. By 1947 the pengo was scrapped. OBVERSE; Blue on tan and light green underprint. Shepherd and sheep at lower centre. Portrait of woman wearing national costume at right. Lettering: Húsz Pengő Maygar Nemzeti Bank Translation: 20 Pengoes Hungarian National Bank REVERSE; Old peasant man and young peasant woman at centre PLEASE LOOK AT THE SCAN CAREFULLY BEFORE BUYING.
