The destroyer was one of the first discs that ever went into my bag. Paul Mcbeth threw it and he was the best in the world, so why shouldn't I?? Well I discovered why pretty quick. As a beginner the destroyer is basically unthrowable and isn't something I? would recommend for newer players. As I've gotten better and more experienced the destroyer has found it's way in and out of my bag. It's fast and reliable and a great disc to layer into your bag. The only problem with this disc is consistency. Innova mass produces this disc on a huge scale, and good luck finding one destroyer that's like the other. There's huge differences between different runs and the inconsistency has been something that has turned me off to the destroyer. I now choose to go with other brands who can offer me more a little more consistency. With so many brands and plastic on the market these days there are plenty of copycats to be had. I would suggest trying a few out and maybe you'll find that you like them even more than the original. I really feel like there is way to much variance in plastics and runs for this disc to be sure set upon. Better drivers out there imo. One issue though is to be careful with what disc you buy. Most are very overstable, yet some I have had are a tad understable, which is annoying. Don't recommend to beginners. Of the 2 that aren't bagged, 1 is a new one that I just ordered. SOOOO WHAT I like destroyers, okay?!? I have all of these discs for different reasons. The heavy discs fight wind better than the lighter ones. My 163g is my go-to for 80% of my destroyer shots; now that it's getting beat in a bit it's my bomber. The 150g can be thrown flat in a tailwind without dumping left too hard. These are the supreme forehand drivers. I will always have at least 1 in my bag to do work on the course. I have been lucky and have relatively consistent molds with predictable stability, but one of the issues with destroyers is variable stability based upon batch. You'll never catch me without a destroyer in my bag. It has a predictable flight and accuracy. Disc would turn quite sharply on the fade when new, but became much less flippy after broken in after a couple rounds and flies great now. The Destroyer does take a pretty big arm to throw backhand and isn't beginner friendly at all in this aspect. Then I'm a huge fan of the Star Plastic. Feels good in the hand, has grip, and seems to be durable. I really enjoyed throwing it and keep it as a backup/vacation disc. It flew a touch more overstable for me than I think is typically expected. It was probably just the make. Great disc and would definitely recommend this to any one. When you find a Destroyer that works well for you it adds so much to your game. You can get crazy distance out of these while also having the stability to make them so consistent. The destroyer is my favorite driver and I would love to give it 5 stars but I can only give 4 as each one varies so much. For every few destroyers I buy, I usually only find one that I really like. Many are much too overstable and make it very difficult for my arm speed to get it to fly the desired numbers. I wish destroyers were more consistent so that I could get many in the exact stability that I like. Instead of having a plethora of different stabilities and making it difficult to find the perfect one. The Destroyer is the best distance driver once you find one that works for you. While this isn't the disc I can throw the farthest, that would be my Star Wraiths, it is the most accurate driver I have ever thrown at full strength. Like I said above, I can usually get a Wraith to go about 50 feet farther but with almost no accuracy. I usually use my Wraiths for wide-open shots where I want to bite off distance. While I can still get a good distance with the Destroyer, I love it because I can place it exactly where I want it almost every throw. The 1 extra speed it has over the Wraith is likely why. This makes that Destroyer have a bit more stability to it when thrown with similar power. I throw a destroyer for almost every shot above 380 ft. These things bomb. The star plastic is currently my favorite, but the champion and pro plastic are great as well. I carry 3 star destroyers in my bag that range in stability. My most stable is the newest, a Calvin Heimburg tour series Halo Star Destroyer (super domey). I also carry 1 dx destroyer that is understable and works as my backhand roller disc. Brand new, the star destroyer is going to throw pretty stable. It won't flip much and will most likely not meet a destroyer's max distance. Beat the disc in a good bit and it will be following beautiful heizer flip up lines and flat to Annie shots. I tend to like the flatter, gummy star destroyers, but that it only by my own preference. I have found some of the more domed destroyers to have much more glide. I wouldn't really recommend max weight destroyers to anyone with less than 400 ft of power. If you want to try a destroyer and you can't throw that far, I'd put my money on pro, blizzard champion, or G-Star plastic; really just something that is not going to be as stable. I really love the destroyer and will likely bag this disc for a long time. Got to be one of the best discs ever made for sure. I always make sure I have at least 3 Destroyers (all 3 star plastic) in my bag at all times because of the utility that they possess. So I use brand new ones for thumbers. Fresh off the shelf they are stable enough to give you the desired flight path for overhand shots and for me they fly about 50 to 100 ft farther than a firebird which was what I used to throw thumbers with. The second Destroyer in my bag is a little more beat-in and I use it for RHFH shots. If I need a RHFH shot to go around 300 to 360 ft I always reach for the Destroyer and it rarely let's me down. The third Destroyer I keep in the bag is the most beat-in/understable of the three. I use that one for RHBH distance drives and it will fly(400ft)!! I have a Tern the will actually fly about 50 ft farther but I will normally reach for this one if I need distance but a more controlled drive than a drive with the Tern. Great disc one of my favorites BUY IT!!!
