Description: Ireland 1922 Harrison 1 1/2d coil "long 1" variety Scott 61a, T64a Mint LH This is the 1 1/2d coil stamps overprinted by Harrison and Sons, with the 3 line "saorstat" overprint. These stamps were overprinted on full sheets of stamps that were then cut out and the ends pasted together to create rolls of stamps. These were produced in horizontal and vertical rolls. This set of overprints also had a major variety that is listed in all the major catalogs, a "long 1(or tall 1)" in the date, that shows a serif at the bottom of the one. I am offering an example that has the Long 1 (Scott 61a) (Hib T64a). This is a nice example with trimmed perfs on the bottom and slightly on the top, which is the usual situation with these coils, and indicates this was from a horizontal coil. It is Mint lightly hinged. The Hibernian Catalogue values this at €95.00. The 2024 Scott catalog values this at $90.00. An additional note. The accent on the e of eireann has a spur on the top, making it look like a "thumbs up" hand or mitten. I don't know if this a constant variety, or just a one time inking flaw. The item you see in the scan is the exact item you will be receiving. Stamps will be sent USPS first class mail with stiffeners to protect stamp.
