Description: JAMES DEAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOK 1949 - As a bonus, this book is signed by his drama teacher Adeline Nall (Brookshire), who Jimmy credits with encouraging him to pursue acting. It is also signed by her son David Nall, who was a friend of Jimmy's and Adeline's son. I suspect this was a teacher's book as many of the faculty have also signed this book, including the principal. Unlike Marilyn Monroe's yearbook, which only has a single postage stamp size photo of her, James appears in no less than 10 photos, in this, his Senior year of high school. Several of the photos are very large. I have shown just 3 photos, so you can discover the rest for yourself as the auction winner, but he appears on the baseball team, basketball team, debate team, and more! Look at this great pic of him as Frankenstein from the school play! He is also a snidley whiplash type villain in "Goon with the Wind". He appears in other school plays as well. The book is in overall good condition for a book that is 70 years old. There is some page browning on the blank pages at the beginning of the yearbook and some spots on the 3rd and 4th pages, but the rest of the book is pretty solid. A couple small dings in the corner, which you can see in the pics. A super rare book with a small class size, I suspect that less than 25 of these still exist in the world, and I own 2 of them! On October 29th, 1948, Fairmount High School hosted their annual Halloween Carnival. The centerpiece of the evening was a two-hour theatrical presentation comprised of shirt skits. The first was Goon With the Wind featuring Jimmy as the villain, Snidely Whiplash, David Nall (Adeline Nalls son) as the hero, and Joan Jones as Nell. It ran about 25 minutes long and was written by one of Adelines students. Later on in the evening, Jimmy did a one-man act portraying Frankensteins Monster. He wore a paper mach headpiece for the role that he made (with the help of Pete Beck) in Gurney Mattinglys art class. According to the FHS 1949 yearbook, he grotesquely scared the wits out of the audience. James is a legend who starred in 3 major motion pictures, including Rebel Without A Cause, East of Eden and Giant. He was also nominated for an Academy Award and appeared in dozens of TV shows.
