Description: Ruxton (1821-48) was a British writer/author who described his experiences as a fur hunter in the Rockies (Colorado ) in a series of articles titled Life in the Far west written for Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine in 1848 . He wrote these articles under the pseudonym LaBonte' . He sadly died that year in Missouri . Blackwood later collected these articles and published them in book form in 1849 . The current offering is a collection of those articles excerpted from original printings of the American Edition of that Magazine published in 1848 . These pages are double-columned , and at the end of the book discuss his untimely death . A true first edition , newly bound , with original marbled magazine eps , and in very good condition .
