Description: Eastern swamp milkweed is a subspecies of swamp milkweed. This particular variety has light lilac hued flower that gives a great contrast to our standard Eastern Swamp milkweed. While we often find this plant growing in dry powerlines, it prefers to be in wetter soils. If started early enough, this plant will bloom the first year. The second year these plants are absolutely loaded with blooms. We love the look of this subspecies with its wonderfully fuzzy leaves. This ecotype is from New Jersey.
