Mattel Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat Jack in the Box, Vintage Working, 1970 USA

Description: For sale is a vintage wind-up Jack-in-the-Box featuring Dr. Suess' Cat in the Hat. The metal toy features different artwork showing Cat in different scenes on each of the four sides; the bottom and top are solid red with a yellow border and Mattel logo on the lid. Music plays when the handle is cranked and a latch releases the lid and the spring-loaded Cat. This vintage piece shows gentle wear. Cat has a natural tendency to lean forward but will stay upright when positioned. Cat has visible paint loss on the hat and back of the head (photographs 4 & 5). The lid has a few points of paint loss at edges (photographs 15, 16 & 17). Three of the four corners have small dents without paint loss (photographs 18 - 20). There are exterior fine scratches especially on back panel (Cat with Rake, photograph 21) with some light oxidization. Copyright 1970 Dr. Suess. Made by Mattel in the USA.
