This collaboration isn't the first partnership with a candy and a soda outside of Mountain Dew. The first example of this 🎃Halloween👻 collaboration was October 2020's Crush Sour Patch Kids Berry soda. In the past, the Mtn Dew VooDew flavors have been candy flavors, just not specific name-brand candies. For example, in 2019, it was candy corn flavored. In 2020, it was “fruity candy explosion flavor,” whatever that means (Skittles maybe?). In 2021, it was “fruity candy chews” flavored (sounds like off-brand Starburst to us). And in 2022, it was “Sour candy flavor,” which was supposedly delicious and tasted a whole lot like SourPatch Kids. So, what could that leave for good ol’ 2023? Our first thought based on the coloring of the packaging was Sweet~Tarts. The coloring in the past hasn’t been a 1:1 match, but then again, in the past, it wasn’t a brand collab, so they didn’t need to worry about anyone else’s IP. As for who’s IP they are having to worry about this year, is Twizzler Cherry ? that remains a mystery, have any intriguing guesses as to what flavor the soda brand would be dew-ing this year. The 2023 MTN DEW VooDew 5💀 has been revealed. Although the information from MTN DEW is sparce, there is a flavor reference to a “very particular beloved trick or treat candy.” In the last four MTN DEW Seasonal offerings, the candy reference was clear. From candy corn to last year’s Sour candy, some people were able to decipher the flavor trail. For this year’s offering, the single phrase does not offer a lot of information, but the coloring and imagery might be more telling. On the Label, pink is the stand out color. Could that mean that bubblegum might be the flavor? Also, the product imagery shows a hand that might be similar to a horror icon, Freddy Kreuger. While the Nightmare on Elm Street lead might invade people’s dreams, he once had bubble gum for sale. His humor might slant more adult than childlike, but those sharp knives could easily pop a bubble. One Connoisseur said they thought it was going to be (for the same packaging color-related reason) that they thought it was Trolli. Which we could totally see being true. Trolliand Mountain Dew do have the same exact energy (and, no, we will not be elaborating at this time). Over the past five years, MTN DEWVooDew 💀 has brought a beverage mystery to the 🎃Halloween👻 season. What started as a fun promotion has turned into a highly anticipated event. Whether people incorporate the beverage into their themed parties, dress up like that reaper, or just run to the store for the first sip, the 👻 spooky season is not complete without enjoying at least one can.For now, everyone will have to take that first sip to determine for themselves the 2023 MTN DEW VooDew 5💀 flavor.
