NOS Vintage 50s McGregor Tidal Sparkler Sport Shirt Loop Collar Atomic Stripe XL

Description: This is an incredible deadstock McGregor loop collar 'Tidal Sparkler' sport shirt, in a size XL. Finding deadstock shirts from this era is no difficult thing, but finding deadstock loop-collar sport shirts with this kind of fabric absolutely is. The fabric is an amazing black and red horizontal cotton striping, with the red stripes having some larger interspersed spots. Not the type of fabric you see being used in shirts today. The shirt is new old stock of course, with the original packaging materials, collar stays, and cardboard backing (with advertisements!) as well as, incredibly, the original tag, which was also where the gift receipt would have resided. The tag shows the original product number, as well as the name of this particular shirt & fabric combination which is 'Tidal Sparkler.' McGregor was known for their fanciful product names as far back as the 1930s. Although I couldn't find an advertisement for this exact shirt, I was able to find McGregor shirts with titles that included both 'tidal' and 'sparkler' as you can see in the photos. Because the shirt is deadstock the sizing is inexact, but the shirt is tagged as an XL, with a 17 1/2 size collar, and these sizing standard usually stay true for formal shirting.
