Description: NOS 1981 Vintage 59cm Benotto 2500 Columbus Steel Racing Road Bike Frame & Fork New Old Stock Vintage Italian 59cm Benotto 2500 Racing Road Bike Frame and Fork from around 1981 in the Iconic Champagne Gold Color with Columbus Steel Tubes & Campagnolo Dropouts. I believe this is Modelo 2500. Giacinto Benotto founded Benotto, Benotto is an Italian / Mexican Bike Manufacturer with Rich Racing History with Major Wins for Francesco Moser, Freddy Maertens, Antonio Belivacqua & Roger DeVlaeminck in the 1960s- 1980s. Benotto moved major manufacturing to Mexico in the 1950s although the High-end models were Hand Built in Italy until Mid 1980s. Some Benotto Racing Bikes were made by DeRosa. Benotto is an Iconic Brand that still survives today in Mexico. Benotto Frame Set sizing is center to top - 59cm. Actual Size is: Seat tube 58m Center to Center or 59cm Center to Top with a 58cm center to center top tube. The Head tube is 166mm tall. The Frame and Fork are Columbus Steel Tubes with Campagnolo Dropouts. The 1" Threaded steel Fork has 100mm Spacing and the Frame has 126mm Rear Spacing. Frame & Fork is Italian Standard. Frame measures for 27mm diameter seat post. In most cases Benotto Reveals the Date & Size in the Stamping on the bottom Bracket, Serial Number 3-1216 & 2-81-59. I believe this is Italian work shop built frameset. Frame is New Old Stock, Paint is Nice but has some nicks & scratches from shipping and trading hands a few times, the handers were rough until we got it. We Received the frame with Paint only with NOS Decals on the side, We Cleaned the Frame and applied the Decals. Now its Quite Nice, Please Check Photos. The NOS Decals are Stickers as they always were with Benotto, freshly applied and probably easy to remove. I can easily say Freshly applied Original Decals is a bonus as the stickers shifted, wrinkled, and picked up dirt over time, even NOS. NOS Frame set original from the factory, but needs to be prepped before assembly. It should have the bottom bracket threads chased and faced before installing bottom bracket, the fork needs to be fitted and cut down, seat tube should be cleaned / honed before a greased seatpost is installed.
