Description: Old FOLK ART Hand Carved 17-1/4" PINE Wood, Religious PLAQUE, Cross, Dove, Fish Click images to enlarge Description VINTAGE FOLK ART LARGE RELIGIOUS PLAQUE Interesting and unusual vintage large, hand carved oval plaque measuring 17-1/4" tall, 10" wide and 1-3/4" deep in size. Featuring a thick piece of pine wood that has been carved down so that the iconography decoration is raised, it is decorated with a Patriarchal or anchored cross, which is accented with religious symbols including fish, doves and shafts of wheat - edge is carved with a raised border as well, and there is a canted, pierced hole on back for hanging. Signed Jean-Guy 6-3-78, it is beautifully carved - color is warm and rich as shown. Condition is lovely with no damage other than a fine, tight age-related shrinkage crack on the top edge as shown, minor edge rubbing, a tiny chip repair on the bottom edge as shown, and all the inconsistencies of a hand made piece.
