It's not something you'll see everyday, and for any real banjo player, it's a great find. John Hartford was one of the most prolific musicians and incredible banjo player. Here is an instrument that honors his legacy with high-quality components and build. What you get is a 3-ply violin grade maple rim with a Hartford Grenadillo Tone Ring. This resonant body is matched with a beautiful quartersawn AA grade curly maple neck with a slender "D" shape with a satin Dark Walnut finish with 22 nickel frets. Stay in tune with Deering Planetary Tuners, a Deering Gotoh Geared 5th string Tuner, and a bone nut. John Hartford was a licensed river boat captain and wanted Deering to put some sort of a riverboat theme into his banjo. So there are Steamboat Scroll Mother of Pearl inlays on the fingerboard. This is an exceptional banjo made in honor of one of the best banjo players ever. This instrument is in good condition and comes with its original hardshell case.
