Description: RARE AND BEAUTIFUL SILVER CROSS PENDANT, from Ethiopia, is a beautifully crafted antique silver alloy cross pendant from Ethiopia that was hand made by tribal craftsmen in the late 19th - mid 20th century. These crosses were hand cast individually in wax molds and then incised with spiritually significant patterns by various tribes so no two were ever the same. The silver they used was a mix of silver with other metals, usually copper, so there was a great deal of variation in composition. This piece has a copper hinge pin holding the two sections together, a large hole bail, and seems to be a piece with higher silver content by the weight and color, and by research I've done on similar style pieces. I got this cross from a friend of mine over 20 years ago who was a high end gallery owner and antiquities collector, and she told me at that time that this was an older piece. 3" long x 2 1/8" wide All my items are photographed in an indoor light booth. I always disclose any obvious flaws or imperfections and I try to describe them as accurately as possible. Measurements are taken at widest points. I do combine shipping for multiple items.
