Description: Two transcription discs from The Hollywood Bowl Academy Night Concert from August 4, 1945. These two one-sided discs contains parts 9 and 10 of the concert only. Discs were recorded by International Artists, Inc, Hollywood, CA. Approximately 21 minutes and 13 seconds of audio on these two 16 inch, black lacquer acetate coated aluminum, 33 1/3 rpm discs. One disc has an original label, the other has no label. These discs were recorded for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, very rare! The total time on these discs is approximately 21 minutes and 13 secondsThe audio starts with just over two minutes of orchestra warm-up noises, some crowd noise and laughter before Frank Sinatra addresses the crowd by saying "Way Past Your Bedtime", acknowledging his fansFrank Sinatra sings "Long Ago And Far Away", "I Should Care", "What Makes The Sunset?", "If I Loved You", "Old Man River". The only audio defect(s) occur during "Old Man River". The disc switch between parts 9 and 10 happens during the first few bars of "Old Man River", before any of Sinatra's lines - it doesn't sound like any material is lost in the disc switch. There are two pops during the first two revolutions of the disc of part 10 which do not cause any skips. There is a skip in the song "Old Man River". I can see the stylus move on the disc, however I could not see the defect in the disc that was causing the skip. It is possible that someone with more experience with radio transcriptions could figure out how to play this disc without the skipThe fact that there is a skip in this disc, and there is the same skip in every other version of this audio I have heard, leads me to believe these discs are the original source of these recordingsThere is a great deal of applause after Frank Sinatra's last number. From the last note of "Old Man River" to the end of the audio on these discs there is 1 minute and 40 seconds of applause, orchestra, audience noise, some conversation, etc. It is possible that this is the end of the performanceDiscs are in Excellent or Better Condition with Excellent or Better Sound, Absolutely Beautiful Discs with beautiful sound!Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables. For $10 I can include a CD transfer of the entire disc for the buyer onlyUS Buyer Pays $15 Priority Mail Shipping
