Description: Very rare historical cabinet style plate by Ashworth Brothers, made for the Queen's Hotel in Hanley, England. The Queen's Hotel was only open for a short period of time (1869-1884), until it was converted into the Hanley town hall. The Ashworth mark on the back of the plate dates from 1880-1891, which means the plate was most likely produced between 1880-1884. The plate appears to be constructed of an earthenware, possibly ironstone, and has a stunning hand painted floral scene on the front. The actual painting is quite well done. The plate measures approx 9 3/8" in diameter. It is in good antique condition with some slight scratching to the floral center and some small fleabites to the earthenware rim. Please see photos for details.
