"Charles Hoy Fort (August 6, 1874 – May 3, 1932) was an American writer and researcher who specialized in anomalous phenomena. The terms "Fortean" and "Forteana" are sometimes used to characterize various such phenomena. Fort's books sold well and are still in print. His work continues to inspire admirers, who refer to themselves as "Forteans", and has influenced some aspects of science fiction." Published by: Dover - 1974 - First (Dover/Thus) Edition - (Presumed) 1st Printing Based on research I have found that there are differing versions of this book, but I haven't found one that matches up directly with this copy, in that the Dover address is the Varick Street address, which is where the company resided from 1959-1983. In 1983 they moved to the Mineola address, which I have seen on other copies of this edition. The rear panel changes on later editions as does the DJ price which here is $17.50. I've seen later printings at Varick priced at $23.95 and Mineola ones at $29.99. It's my opinion that this $17.50 price is the 1st printing. English Text Condition Dust Jacket: NF-Excellent condition overall, very light signs of rubbing/creasing and storage/handling wear. Not clipped. Book: NF/FExcellent condition. Exceptionally light signs of stoarge/handling wear to boards/text-block. Very small (ink?) marks on full title page and title pages just ahead of first book. These, to my eyes, appear to be manufacturing anomalies as the book appears to never have been read and are not in my opinion handing marks. Otherwise pages are crisp and clean, binding is tight and looks almost like new. Please note, I strive to make the descriptions as fair and accurate as possible, but if you are exceptionally fastidious and/or are looking for 'perfect' condition in an item then it's perhaps best not to bid on this auction.
