Description: Poppy Medal Framing offer an unusual 'CAMBRAI 1917 18' bar or clasp-cast in lead free pewter and hand polished. Supplied without holes unless you message to request drilled holes for sewing to ribbon. I am not sure of the history of these bars/clasps as there was mention of bars being awarded for the British War Medal to commemorate each battle and it was decided not to produce these due to cost. You do find miniature war medals with naval battle bars.I wonder if these bars were an unofficial bar made but they are the ideal width to display on the Victory medal ribbon!I have also just started to produce along with these 5 further bars/clasps of a similar design for 'YPRES 1917','CAMBRAI 1917-18','PALESTINE 1918','NEUVE CHAPELLE' and 'ST. QUENTIN CANAL'. Also in a slightly different design 'SOMME 1916 18' AND 'ARMENTIERES 1914' The 5 are very similar but a more detailed scroll to the ends-the originals all have screw posts which would be too shallow for a wood shield(maybe their original purpose) or perhaps they were screwed to a silver shield-who knows!!But again the ideal width for the Victory Medal ribbon-please see my ebay shop for these further bars/clasps.The photograph shows 2 items to show obverse and reverse alongside a UK pound coin(not included) to illustrate the item-this listing is for 1 item.We ship international if you require a tracked service please enquire.
