Description: Beautiful vintage Royal Winton pedestal compote in the highly collectible Cheadle chintz pattern from 1951. The piece is in excellent vintage condition with only very light crazing typical of its age. It features: •A stunning all-over floral design with pink roses, blue bells, and yellow daisies •A cream background with gold trim •Scalloped edges with a matching decorated pedestal base •A diameter of approximately 6.5” •and the maker’s mark “Royal Winton Grimwades” and the pattern name “Cheadle” on base The compote structure has a distinctive scalloped or wavy edge with five gentle curves creating a flower or petal-like shape. The dish portion sits atop the pedestal base that flares outward at the bottom. From a top view, the piece has an organic, free-flowing pentagonal outline rather than a rigid geometric shape. With the trumpet style pedestal base, the overall silhouette resembles a flower bloom. This shape is characteristic of Royal Winton’s more decorative pieces from this period, where the flowing organic form complements the chintz floral pattern. A great piece with history, art and function, all in excellent vintage condition. Thanks for looking.
