Description: This is a rare instrument. The Woodwind Forum, Clarinet Perfection gives some information. The K1900 serial number I dated a few years ago from between December, 1928 and early 1929. The number is difficult to read on the upper joint. The new logo was introduced in either 1929 or 1931. The old logo looks a lot like the Buffet logo. The upper joint says: “Breveté SGDG” an abbreviation for “Breveté Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement,” which translates to “patent without government guarantees”. These were relatively big bore clarinets. The top of upper joint measures 9/16" or close to 15 mm. The finger holes on the upper joint are larger than on my other clarinets. There is only one pivot for the two left hand pinky keys. This came to me with a sawed off barrel measuring 56mm. (Was someone trying to make it a key of "A" clarinet?) I bought a 66mm Selmer barrel measuring 66mm; it may be from a series 9 model. I have to insert a slip of paper to get a good fit. The mouthpiece I am including is a Selmer HS* from the '50's or '60's, which plays well. Some work was done on it in the last year. I have never played this much because I had 8 clarinets. This was a favorite but I am reducing my collection to what I can play. (Still can't play more than one at a time!) The case is not original but is what it came in.
