Description: For sale is a Selmer Super Balanced Action tenor saxophone neck! You are buying a neck only, no saxophone is included. This neck is missing its octave pip. This neck is a prime era Selmer SBA serial #53xxx. The neck has the serial stamped in the neck, and is a very nice late serial number close to the Mark VI change. This neck is being sold as not working with its fair share of scratches, knicks, dings, dents, metal wear, patina and other used anomalies. The neck is out of round on both sides with dents. This will be easy to take care of but exists. Please check out picture #23 & #24 the neck is missing its octave pip. SBA tenor necks are unbelievably rare to find for sale by them selves and essentially never pop up for sale. If you have an SBA body needing a neck its well worth sourcing an octave pip to complete this neck. There are various options out there. You can utilize a modern Selmer octave pip, you can source a vintage Mark VI octave pip, you can try to find an SBA/BA era pip that might be hard, you can have your local tech solder in a pip, you can have one of the amazing hand made neck producers make a perfect to spec pip, etc. If the next owner were to send this neck to a KBsax or Gloger type master neck craftsman they would have no problem bringing this neck back to life! Its hard to imagine once finished that the neck wouldn't be a monster player. Typically when looking at Mark VI or SBA necks that sell by them selves. More times then none they are fully de lacquered with that off tan beige, off yellow look. If you were to pair an off yellow neck with a fancy expensive dark laq SBA tenor its going to look like a sore thumb and not match. Aside from the mentioned problems what makes this neck so rare is its aesthetic color hue of of the neck. This neck has beautiful dark lacquer. The cross hairs on the front of the neck are crispy. The pictures make it hard to tell the color, but in the hands its beautiful dark lacquer. Once in working condition this neck will have no problem matching a nice condition SBA tenor!
