Description: From John Stanley Antique Tools. This listing is for a Snow & Nealley Co. / Bangor, Maine axe. From the 1960's - 70's. Due to having had little use, this has, as shown in the photos, part of the original label still remaining. This was an "Our Best" axe label. On the under side '3 1/2' is stamped for the weight. This has never been sharpened, the cutting edge has two very small burrs as shown in the close up photo of the cutting edge. The neat owner made handle is of maple and has excellent patina. As shown there is a "hang hole" near the butt end of the handle. Measures 28 3/8" long. The head measures 7 3/8" long with a 4 1/4" wide cutting edge. Due to being stored in a dry environment the handle has loosened a very little. Great axe to add to your collection or to use.
