Description: This SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY Tobacco Leather (sometimes erroneously referred to as a Cigarette or Tobacco Card ) featuring the school YELL and SYMBOLL / MASCOT embossed on the leather, was issued by the American Tobacco Company of Richmond Virginia and New York, as a Premium in their Brands of Mogul , Fatima , Piedmont , and Murad Cigarettes and Tobacco in 1908. It is a larger size, measuring 3 1/2 inches by 2 5/8 inches approximately. It is listed as series number L40 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue. I have scanned the leather fairly large for you to be able judge condition for yourself. This OVER 110 year old collectable (as it is over 100 years old it is an official American Antique) would make an excellent display piece framed with a College or University acceptance letter or degree. It has huge cross over collectable potential. Both collectors of Tobaciana and College Sports Memorabilia would desire to have this unique item in their collections. It would look great in any dorm room and would make a great gift for any Alumni or Freshman.
