Description: M65 jacket was worn by Lieutenant General Julian Ewell while commanding officer of the 9th ID and II Field Force in Vietnam. The accompanying tag states that the jacket was a direct acquisition from Ewell in 1989. Julian Ewell graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1939 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. He completed Airborne school and commanded the 3rd Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, rising through the ranks over the course of WWII. He stayed in after the war, serving in South Korea during the Korean War and other appointments. During the Vietnam War, he commanded the 9th ID (1968-1969) and II Field Force (1969-1970). The jacket has his nametape and U.S. Army tape, pin-on subdued Combat Infantryman's badge with star for second award, master parachutist wings, II Field Force patch and three subdued stars on each epaulette. There is a jar of ear plugs looped around the left epaulette as well. The only concern with this jacket is that the nametape seems to have been re-sewn several times. This could have been done by Lt Gen Ewell or restored by a collector, we are unsure. However, we are positive the jacket came directly from Lt Gen Ewell. Jacket has no tags present. Condition: I
